Grief And Loss Therapy

Holding the many shapes of sorrow

Grief and loss touch us all. They arrive in different forms, at different moments, yet they belong to the shared terrain of being human. Loss reshapes the inner landscape, carving quiet riverbeds through memory, identity, and the way we inhabit the world. What once felt solid may soften. Time moves differently. The ordinary becomes infused with absence, and yet also with a strange new tenderness.

The Experience of Loss

There is an intimacy in grief that is difficult to speak about. Sorrow draws us beneath the surface of life, into deeper waters where love, longing, and memory continue to move. What has been lost does not simply disappear, it changes form, becoming presence in another register. The bond remains, felt in the body, in moments of stillness, in the subtle ways the world now appears altered.

Grief is not only pain, though it often arrives that way. It is also an alchemical process, one that reshapes the heart, deepens perception, and reveals what matters most. In times of loss, we are asked to hold what cannot be fixed, to sit beside what cannot be undone. This work is tender and often quiet, unfolding in waves, sometimes gently, sometimes with unexpected force.

And yet, within grief, there is often a strange companionship with aliveness. Sorrow reminds us of love. Longing reveals connection. Even in the darkest waters, something continues to move, a subtle current of meaning, memory, and care. In this way, grief becomes not only an ending, but also a threshold, inviting us to carry forward what has been lost in a new and more inward way.

How Therapy Can Support Grief and Loss

In the modern world we live today, we have tragically lost the kind of deep support that helps us feel held and accompanied as we cross the threshold of loss and change. However, in shared space where we are understood and supported our minds, nervous systems, and souls can heal and transform in ways we could not have imagined.

In our sessions I offer a space to meet grief without needing to rush its unfolding. A place where sorrow is not minimized or pathologized, but honored as a natural response to love and loss. Together, we can gently explore the many shapes grief may take, and allow the process to unfold with compassion, presence, and care.

I provide therapy via video to residents who live anywhere within California.
