Fertility Challenges and IVf Therapy in California

Holding you in the emotional and inner journey of IVF and trying to conceive

There are longings that touch the deepest layers of being. The desire to bring a child into the world is often one of them. When this longing meets uncertainty, delay, or repeated disappointment, the experience can become quietly consuming, shaping not only the body, but the emotional and inner landscape as well. Time begins to feel different. Hope and fear sit side by side. Decisions carry weight that is difficult to share with others who have not walked this path.

The fertility journey, whether unfolding through trying to conceive, infertility, or IVF, often brings a particular kind of vulnerability. The body becomes a site of monitoring and intervention. The future feels suspended between possibility and loss. There may be cycles of anticipation, waiting, and grief, each one asking for resilience while offering little certainty. Even when surrounded by support, the experience can feel isolating, as though much of what is being carried remains unseen.

Fertility challenges and identity, meaning, and life direction

This process can also touch deeper layers of identity and meaning. Questions may arise about timing, partnership, family, and the shape of life itself. There can be tension between hope and self-protection, between continuing and pausing, between trusting the process and feeling overwhelmed by it. The decisions involved often have no clear answers, only shifting inner signals that are difficult to interpret while emotions run high.

Therapy for fertility challenges and IVF: a space to slow, process, and reconnect

Therapy can offer a place to slow this experience down. Rather than moving from one step to the next in urgency, there is space to listen more carefully to what is unfolding internally. This includes attending to the emotional toll, the strain on relationships, the impact on self-trust, and the quiet grief that can accumulate along the way. The work may also include exploring how to remain connected to yourself, even as the process becomes demanding and uncertain.

Fertility therapy can support individuals and couples navigating infertility, IVF, and the emotional complexity of trying to conceive. This process often includes cycles of hope, grief, uncertainty, and decision-making that can be difficult to hold alone.

How therapy can support you during fertility challenges and IVF

  • Processing grief, disappointment, and uncertainty

  • Navigating the emotional ups and downs of IVF cycles

  • Making decisions about continuing, pausing, or changing direction

  • Supporting communication with a partner during stress

  • Reconnecting with yourself amidst a highly medicalized process

  • Holding hope and self-protection at the same time

In our sessions I offer a compassionate space that can support both individuals and partners navigating fertility challenges. The journey often affects each person differently, and therapy can help hold these differences with care, allowing for communication, grounding, and mutual understanding. Attention is given not only to decisions and practical considerations, but also to the deeper emotional and existential dimensions of the experience.

For some, this journey may also open questions about different paths forward, including what it might mean to live a meaningful life without children. If that is something you are holding, you can learn more about my support with childlessness and identity here.

Within this slowing down, it can become easier to sense what feels aligned, even when clarity is incomplete. The goal is not to remove uncertainty, but to create steadiness within it, allowing the process to unfold with greater compassion, presence, and care for yourself along the way.

I provide therapy via video to residents who live anywhere within California.
